The Fair Lady

When the fair lady was here,
I filled our house with flowers;
But she went away,
Leaving her empty couch behind !


There stands her couch, with the embroidered quilts all folded.
Could I sleep any more ?
It is three years since then;
Her sweet perfume still lingers...


The perfume never dies out;
She never comes back again.
I think of her till the yellow leaves
All fall off from the trees,
And the white dew wets the green moss, twinkling silently...
